Classroom Etiquette

The purpose of classroom etiquette in ballet is to create an atmosphere of determination in which students can excel. Specific achievement will be recognized in the classroom. It is expected that students will show respect for their teacher as well as for their fellow students.

Be On Time For Each Class

Students are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of class, dressed ready in the uniform for their class. For ballet, girls’ hair should be properly fixed in a bun as requested. Parents are asked to drop off their children for class and leave, as there is not enough waiting area available in the studio. Classes will begin promptly at the scheduled time.

Follow Instruction

Italia Performing Arts teachers expect all students to act in appropriate manner in the classroom.  Students are encouraged to give attention to the teacher in the classroom in keeping with the art of dance. Any disruptive behavior will be corrected immediately so as not to distract from overall instruction. Students are expected to listen and respond to instruction, abstain from inappropriate language, and show a cooperative and respectful attitude at all times.

Show Self-Control

Discipline and self-control are essential at Italia Performing Arts.  Teachers reserve the right to ask any student who does not respond appropriately in the classroom or who disrupts a class to leave for that day. If any child has to be excluded in this way for a third time, the school principal will schedule a direct consultation with parents to address the child’s behavior, before the child is invited to return to their class.
