Online Classes, starting September 14th 2020

We have appointed two new teachers: Kat Carlson, who will start by teaching Lyrical and Ballet Essentials in Winchester, and Maddy Tighe, who will teach Tap and Modern and Jazz Dance also in Winchester. Additional 2020-21 Classes and Time Changes

We are pleased to announce additional classes for 2020-21, and a few minor changes to class times. The changes are for our Winchester studio only.

Ballet Pro A on Saturdays

We understand that 4:00 pm is a difficult time for some students to get to class. Also we have more potential Pro A students than we can safely fit in the main studio room, while Covid-19 is still around.

So we are adding a Saturday morning alternative, two back to back classes running from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. These classes will start on September 12th. Please enroll your student in them as two separate classes.

Tap

We are now announcing our Tap classes for 2020-21:

  • Age 3-5: Fridays 5:45 pm – 6:30 pm
  • Age 6-9: Fridays 6:45 pm – 7:30 pm
  • Age 10+: Wednesdays 6:45 pm – 7:30 pm

The Friday classes will be taught by Maddy Tighe, who was a substitute teacher for us in late 2019 and early 2020. Eva Zitterkob will teach the Wednesday class.

Modern and Jazz

Maddy Tighe will also teach for us a new Modern and Jazz Dance class, on Fridays 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm.

Acro Darlings Extra Class

We are pleased to see good demand for our new Acro Darlings class in Winchester, for age 3-6. So we are adding an extra class, on Wednesdays 4:00 – 4:45 pm.

Wednesday Class Time Changes

So that we can fit in the extra Acro Darlings class, we are moving our other Wednesday classes 15 minutes later, as follows:

  • 4:45 – 5:45: Acro level 2/3
  • 5:45 – 6:30: Acro Darlings (the original class)
  • 6:45 – 7:45: Ballet Essentials
  • 7:45 – 8:45: Lyrical

Special offers until July 31st

You have just one week left to take advantage of these special offers:

  • Registration, online or through the portal, reduced to $20 for the first student in a family, $10 for each additional student (normally $30 and $15)

Summer Show 2020 – Alice in Wonderland and Get Up And Dance

Alice in Wonderland: The Tea PartyWe are pleased to announce to our students and families our Summer Show for 2020. The first half of the show, Alice in Wonderland, will be mostly ballet. The second half, Get Up And Dance, will be a showcase of other dance styles.

There will be two performances of the show on Saturday June 13th. The 1:00 performance will feature our Edinburg students and at 5:00 our Winchester students will be featured. Some older students will be in both performances. The venue will again be Skyline High School, Front Royal.

If you would like your student to take part in this show, please fill out and return our Performer Agreement and a costume order form, by January 21st if possible. All performers must be registered and active students at Italia Performing Arts, now or by February 1st. They must also agree to attend monthly rehearsals, and the dress rehearsal on Friday June 12th – see the rehearsal schedules available at our studios.

The only cost involved is purchase of a costume, and of show tickets for family members. This year we are asking most of you for full payment for costumes by January 31st, as we are ordering many of them from a company which requires full payment with orders. Only families purchasing more than two costumes will be allowed extra time to pay.

NEW AND IMPORTANT: In previous years we have struggled to find enough volunteers to help at the show. So this year we are making it a requirement that for each performer a parent, or other adult family member, takes on a volunteer role at the dress rehearsal or one of the performances, or in preparation for the show. For those unable to volunteer, we offer an alternative of making a donation of at least $50 to Italia Performing Arts Institute (a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization) to support the performing arts in the Shenandoah Valley.

We look forward to having your student performing with us for our main show of the year.

WINCHESTER, VA, October 24, 2019: Italia Performing Arts presents the seasonal classic ballet The Nutcracker in Front Royal, VA on December 7, 2019.

Italia Performing Arts is pleased to announce its student production of The Nutcracker, being brought to the Shenandoah Valley.  This has been a family holiday tradition for over 100 years. The production is staged in a Victorian setting, allowing the magic of The Nutcracker to come to life.

The Nutcracker 2019

This production will be presented in the beautiful auditorium of Skyline High School in Front Royal, Virginia. There will be two performances on Saturday December 7th, one at 1:00 pm and another at 5:00 pm. This year, mostly every role will be played by students of Italia Performing Arts. Dancers from Shenandoah University Conservatory will be playing the roles of the Nutcracker and the Cavalier.

Lorenza Manara Marchi, Principal of Italia Performing Arts, said:

I am thrilled to see the students of Italia Performing Arts develop as dancers, and artists. This holiday season, we welcome featured dancers from the Shenandoah University Conservatory, to work alongside us as we bring our classic representation of “The Nutcracker” to the Shenandoah Valley.

The high standard of work and dedication the children are exhibiting has had such a big impact on them. This is an experience that they will never forget.

Beauty and the Beast: Final Call for Dancers

Beauty and the Beast

At Italia Performing Arts we are working hard on our Summer Show 2019. The first half of the show will be our own ballet version of the traditional story “Beauty and the Beast”, with original choreography by Lorenza Manara Marchi and her colleagues. This will be followed by “The Golden Age of Hollywood”, presented by our non-ballet students.

The Golden Age of Hollywood

This show will be presented on June 15th, 2019 at Skyline High School, Front Royal, VA, the same venue as The Nutcracker last December. There will be two performances, at 1:00 pm featuring Edinburg students and at 4:00 pm featuring Winchester students. The main characters and some other students will dance in both performances.

We expect to start selling tickets for the show in March.

Final Call for Dancers

If you or your child wants to dance in this show, you MUST do the following by January 31st:

  • Enroll the student in the right class at Italia Performing Arts
  • Return to our studios a signed permission and costume order form
  • Pay at least a $20 deposit for each costume (any balance will be due in April)

We need to do this now as we have to order costumes in early February, for delivery in May. This also gives students time to learn their steps at our rehearsals. Rehearsal schedules are available at our studios.

Autopay student families: your costume payment can be added to your February 1st automatic tuition payment on request.
