DVDs of Once Upon A Time: Nearly Ready

We hope you enjoyed our Summer Show “Once Upon A Time”. We are preparing DVDs of the show, for any of you who missed it, or as as a keepsake for you. These are still available for ordering from our online store or at our studios, $25 each. The quality is much better than in previous years: see below.

Please order quickly, by July 9th! We will be finalizing our order quantity on that date, and after that we will have only a few extra copies available.

The DVD package will consist of two DVDs in one case, one of each performance of the show, at no extra cost.

We have now nearly finished editing the video footage. We are pleased to say that this year the quality is much better than in previous years, because we used a professional videographer, Dan Shaffer of Shaffer Films. Here is a sample of what you can expect to see and hear (click Full Screen for the best quality):

The DVD quality will be a little lower than this because of inherent limitations of the DVD format. If anyone who purchases the DVD also wants access to downloadable video files at the same quality as this clip (720p AVCHD format, 1.6 to 1.8 GB for each of 3 acts of each performance), we will work on making them available.

Special Tuition Deals 2017-18

We are offering the following special deals for tuition for our 2017-18 school year:

  • Whole School Year for the Price of Nine Months! Get a month’s free tuition, or save 10%, if you pay in advance for the year (ten months’ classes).
  • Half School Year 5% off, if you pay in advance (five months’ classes).

These deals are available only if paid for in full by September 8th, or by the student’s first class of the school year (excluding any trial class) if later. They are not available for new students under 5.

Save an additional 5% (15% off whole year, 10% off half year) if you pay in full by June 17th, the day of our Summer Show Once Upon A Time.

Memorial Day Special Offer on Registration Fee

Register by May 31st extended to June 3rd and save on your registration fee for 2017-18 (if paid by that date): $25 (usually $30), additional student $12.50 (usually $15).

Summer Classes

You don’t need to wait until August to start dancing! This year we are offering a special six week program of summer classes: two weeks in late June, then a break and four more weeks from late July into early August. Register for these classes through our regular Registration page.

Summer Show 2017 Once Upon A Time: Request for Sponsorship

Nearly five years ago we opened our Italia Performing Arts dance studio in Winchester. Last year we opened our second studio in Edinburg. Our mission is to promote the performing arts in the northern Shenandoah Valley and beyond. We specialize in teaching classical ballet in the Italian style of our CEO and School Principal, Lorenza Manara Marchi.

Since we opened we have grown rapidly to become one of the region’s leading schools for children and teens to study ballet and other styles of dance. Our Summer Shows 2015 Cinderella and 2016 Snow White were widely appreciated by audiences of more than 700 paying guests each.

We are now preparing over 100 students to take part in our Summer Show 2017, Once Upon A Time, our own compilation of dances taken from favorite fairy tale ballets. This will be performed on Saturday June 17th, at Millbrook High School, Winchester. This year again we are offering two performances, and we expect to sell between 800 and 1000 tickets, mostly to family and friends of students at both our studios.

We are asking local businesses and others, in the Winchester and Edinburg areas, to sponsor our Summer Show by advertising in the show program. We will be giving this program to everyone in our audience, It will be printed in full color on folded letter size paper (5½” wide, 8½” high).

See the attached form for ordering instructions, for full, half and quarter page advertisements. Please reserve your space by May 20th.

We hope that in this way you will be able to support our school and help us to bring the wonder of dance to the young people of the Valley.

We reserve the right to refuse any advertisements which we consider inappropriate for our family audience, or if we do not have space for them.

Summer Classes 2017

In 2017, instead of summer camps, Italia Performing Arts is offering a program of summer classes. This program will be a cut down version of the regular class timetable, with classes three days a week in Winchester and two in Edinburg, for six weeks in the summer: two weeks in late June after our show, then a two week break before four more weeks in late July and early August. See the dates below.

Interested in dance classes, for yourself or your children? Come and try them out for free! Our Open House at our Winchester studio on Saturday August 13th, 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, is your chance for this.

We will offer on the day free trial classes in ballet (Italian Cecchetti method), tap, hip-hop, jazz & contemporary dance and lyrical dance. Our partners at Southern Academy of Irish Dance will offer free trial classes in Irish dance.

We are also offering light refreshments and the opportunity to sign up for our 2016-17 classes. Details of these classes will be available at the studio.
