Maddy (Madeline) Tighe is a twenty five year old Shepherd University alumni, with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication. She has been dancing since the age of five, when she began studying tap, jazz and ballet, later moving on in following years to study lyrical-ballet, hip-hop, african/modern, and a style involving American Sign Language. She took an involuntary several-year-long hiatus, due to a lack of dance studios in her new town; when her family moved from South Jersey, to the wild and wonderful, West Virginia, in 2007. In high school she was afforded the opportunity to trade assistant teaching for classes at a local studio in Romney, WV. She was able to re-sharpen her skills, and soon after won the talent award for a self-choreographed piece, in the Miss Hampshire County pageant. As she went on to college, she used the wellness center on campus to dance in her spare time and choreograph for her upcoming Miss West Virginia competition. Always wanting to bring the passion that lit her fire for so many years, to the youth of this generation, she feels blessed for the opportunity to work with the students at Italia Performing Arts.
